Eldorado Canyon - Redgarden Wall
Eldorado Canyon - Redgarden Wall
Taking advantage of a warm November day, EJ and I headed to the Redgarden Wall of Eldorado Canyon. The plan for the day was to climb the Swanson Arete which is a historic line with moderate climbing. To access the Swanson Arete we first had to climb the West Chimney which proved to be the climbing crux of the day. EJ lead the the 160’ West Chimney to the Red Ledge where the Swanson Arete began. From the base of the Arete I combined two pitches over moderate ground. On the pitch I lead I ran across several large loose blocks which is surprising considering the traffic that this route gets. EJ lead the last pitch which had a short crux and beautiful exposed climbing on moderate rock. From the summit we elected to do the “walk off” descent which proved to be a mistake. Next time we’ll rappel down the “Dirty Deed” Chimney.
