Sparky’s Cooler

Sparky’s Cooler, 5.8

May 2010

I’ve had my eye on this route for awhile and today EJ and I headed up to Mary’s Bust and finally checked it out. Sparky’s Cooler is a 4 pitch sport climb that covers approximately 400 vertical feet. I lead the first short pitch over some interesting ground. EJ took the second pitch (the crux) past 5 bolts and slightly run out terrain. The third pitch only had one bolt to protect 5.7 terrain which kept me on my toes during my lead. EJ Finished of the climb with a lead up a shallow runnel passing five bolts on the way to the top of our route. Overall the route was fun but I doubt that I’ll ever climb it again. Still it was nice getting out . . .
