Quandary Peak 14,265’

EJ and I had originally planned on climbing Dead Dog on Torrey’s Peak but after taking a look at a questionable wether report we elected to go with a shorter alternative, the Cristo Couloir on Quandary Peak. We started at the old Monte Cristo trailhead and made our way up to the Blue Lakes Dam. From there we climbed the couloir for 2,000 sustained feet at a maximum angle of 35 degrees. The weather was a bit spotty the entire day with periods of blue skies and occasional snow flurries. For the descent we headed down the East Ridge and met up with a climbers trail that lead to the Monte Cristo trailhead. Round trip it took us 5:56 to climb 5.6 miles and 2,300’ vertical.
