Lovers Leap

The Original Route, 5.6

September 2010

After failing to ascent Spearhead last weekend we elected to tackle something with a much shorter approach this weekend. We settled on Lover’s Leap, a crag on Highway 285 just outside Denver. We made pretty good time to the base of the route but had some difficulty finding the start of the route due to some bad beta. I lead a pitch that we though was the first of our route but definitely wasn’t. After I came back to the base of my pitch we decided to try another spot that looked right and it was. EJ lead the first pitch of our intended route with a few tricky moderate moves. Jim lead the second pitch and sent the crux of our route, a short awkward move up a large block. We found the rappels with very little difficult. We spent some time looking at the “Center Route” from its base and we’ll be back to do that soon.
