I had always planned on checking out the Jug Dome in the Big Thompson Canyon but for one reason or another I never made it up there. EJ and I elected to finally check this spot out and try out some of the cliffs moderates. We parked at a pullout on the south side of the road 3.2 miles past the Drake turn off. I had read the approach was steep and long but I found it pretty reasonable. From the car EJ and I made it to the base of the crag in less then 15 minutes. We each took a turn leading Shag (5.7) and then moved on to Law School (5.8). EJ lead the first pitch of Law school (5.8) which was his hardest lead to date. I lead the second pitch of Law School (5.6) and we did a double rap to the base of the Crag. The views from the top of Law School were amazing and the weather was near perfect. There are two new moderates to the right of Dick Van Dyke (5.9-) that are on the agenda for the next time we’re climbing at the Jug Dome.
