Jewel Lake Ice

Wes & Jim on the Way Back to the Trailhead

Center Flow, WI3

December 2009

Jim, EJ and I took a trip up to the Jewel Lake Ice flow to get some swings in. Jim and I had been ice climbing a few times this year but this was EJ’s first day on ice. Nevertheless, on his first ice pitch of the season EJ lead the center of the ice flow. After EJ’s lead Jim and I pink-pointed the route a couple of times each. The trail to the flow is pretty well worn and should continue to be given the snowshoeing traffic from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead. We were the first party to arrive at the base of the flow but were soon joined by four other parties. Get there early if you’re looking for a wilderness experience.
