Combat Rock
Combat Rock
These are photos from a trip to Combat Rock that EJ and I took during the Labor Day weekend. We both took a lead on Rambo Santa using the bolts and four or five pieces of trad gear. We both found Rambo Santa a reasonable 5.7 lead with the added security of bolts. After climbing ‘Santa’ EJ and I each took a couple of turns on Arkansas Patriot (5.9+). This was a funky route with microscopic holds that went (to me) a lot harder than 5.9+. Mountain Project has it rated as 5.10a and both EJ and I agree. We also toproped a cool little route left of Arkansas Patriot that starts with a lieback that we felt went at about 5.8. We saw chalk on some of the holds so we weren’t pioneers but definitely a route worth doing if you’re using the anchors on ‘Patriot’.
